Although Rural Commercial’s primary business focus is to help rural SMEs finance and develop their businesses, most of the loans we make also involve establishing long-term relationships.

Many of our borrowers are farmers who seek finance in order to exploit their immediate opportunities, and in doing so, add prosperity and security to their long-term vision. Funding these opportunities, primarily in modernising and diversifying the farm and the business activities, makes us a special type of lender because we’re able to offer bespoke finance that’s generally not be available from other lenders.

We obviously also consider straight forward funding arrangements. We are particularly interested in helping businesses that have hidden value that other lenders with less focus or specialism on the rural sector might overlook. For example, old farm buildings that are rundown and require investment to reach their full potential or those that are simply out of favour with other lenders because of a run of bad seasons.
